Whether you need a little bit of assistance, or a lot, we are here to help.

Services - Older people

The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program is funded by the Australian Government and provides services that support older people to stay at home and be more independent in the community. Services are available to people aged 65 and over, or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Carers of older people are also eligible under the HACC Program.  There are a wide range of different supports available under the program and services we are able to provide are detailed below.  We can assist with referrals to other services, including personal care, domestic assistance, community nursing, ancillary health services and home modifications.  To access assistance from our organisation an assessment is completed by a qualified member of our staff. This can be completed in your home or our office and transport can be arranged if needed.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal, with volunteers and staff delivering a nutritious meal and a chance to say hello and check that all is well.  Fresh hot meals are delivered daily to people living in Wee Waa, with regular deliveries of frozen meals to Gwabegar and Pilliga.

Silver Sneakers Gentle Exercise

Be active, age healthily and fall-proof yourself.  Growing older doesn't mean you have to lose strength or your ability to do everyday activities.  Exercise can help older people feel better and enjoy life more, even if you think you're too old or not able.

Transport

Transport can be provided to individuals and their carers for shopping, medical appointments, access to the community or to visit family and friends, and can be provided locally and regionally as needed.

Day-Activities

Day-Activities is held weekly in our Community Room.  Participants enjoy a range of activities, listen to guest speakers and catch up with friends old and new.

Community Access

Individual assistance can be provided to help with tasks such as shopping and bill paying.  We are also able to provide support and assistance to access government services.

Social Outings

Regular outings are organised to local and regional attractions, art exhibitions, community facilities and events, including a quarterly visits to Moree Spa Baths.  All upcoming social outings are included in the Calendar of Events.

 Yard and Lawn Maintenance

It can be difficult to maintain your yard and lawn as you age.  Yard and Lawn Maintenance services can help keep you safe in your yard and reduce the risk of fire.  A well maintained lawn can also act as a deterent to snakes; a not uncommon problem in our area.
