“We were especially impressed with the care and attention Wee Waa Community Care Service could provide our family members.”

Community Transport services commenced in Wee Waa in 1988, providing much needed transport assistance to residents of Wee Waa, Gwabegar and Pilliga. Initially, the service was auspiced by Moree Plains Shire Council, with incorporation of Wee Waa & District HACC Association Inc. occurring on 24th March 1993. Services provided expanded to include the Good Neighbour Food Service in 1991.

Today, 26 years after the first service commenced, the organisation employs 6 staff, has over 75 volunteers and provides transport, home maintenance, social support, centre based day care and Meals on Wheels. We are funded by the Department of Social Services, Transport for NSW, Ageing Disability and Home Care and Hunter New England Local Health District.

How we are funded and what we are funded to provide to the community is changing, with the transition of the HACC program to the Commonwealth Home Supports Program and the roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The Commonwealth Home Supports Program will commence on 1st July 2015 and the National Disability Insurance Scheme is being rolled out progressively across Australia.  The My Aged Care website and the National Disability Insurance Scheme website provides comprehensive information on the schemes, or you can Contact Us.
